Where do we stay if we come to help?
-We have an 8 room motel plus additional housing. During our fruit season we have dorms to accommodate 100 people.
What do we do for food?
We have a dining hall and cooks that provide 3 meals plus 2 snacks daily.
How much does it cost?
-During the fruit season each person is required to pay $75.00 for food and lodging. During the non fruit season a donation is suggested to help with expenses.
How long do we stay?
-During the fruit season, we request teams to make a one week commitment. During the non fruit season we’re very flexible.
Where does the food go?
-We partner with mission organizations in approx. 40 different nations. They receive the food and distribute it with the Gospel.
Who pays for the shipping?
Typically, the Organization that receives the food pays the shipping costs.
How do you cover Expenses to run Gleanings?
-We send out a monthly newsletter to approx. 5000 people informing them of happenings at Gleanings. God prompts some of these people to donate to the cost of running this ministry. We have also received donations from Christian foundations.
Do you send food other than fruit and soup?
-YES because there is so much wasted food in America, we’ve been able to procure a wide variety of products like beans, rice, cereal, energy bars etc. The largest donation of food shipped is raisins, due to the generous donations of the California Raisin Association.
Where are you located?
-In the
San Joaquin
Valley approx. 40 miles southeast of
Fresno . We’re on 21 acres of land in the country surrounded by the
Sierra
Mountains . The
Sequoia
National park is about 40 minutes away.
What does a workday look like?
-Breakfast is at 7AM followed by praise, worship and prayer at 8AM. We have a short break and then work until noon
